Overview:
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of tuftsin, a naturally occurring immunomodulatory tetrapeptide.
It has been primarily studied for its interaction with the GABAergic system, the brain's principal inhibitory signalling network, as well as its influence on neurotrophic factor expression.
Originally developed in Russia, it has been the subject of considerable CNS research due to its anxiolytic profile and its ability to modulate multiple neurological pathways simultaneously without sedative side effects observed in classical GABAergic compounds.
