Overview:

Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from the adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), a pituitary-produced hormone involved in stress response regulation. 

Originally developed in Russia, it has been extensively studied for its interaction with melanocortin receptors in the central nervous system and its observed neuroprotective properties. 

Its ability to influence brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression has made it a compound of particular interest in neurological and cognitive research models.
